“LGBT people are inherently better people with good morals” is an idea that needs to fucking die. right away.

LGBT people aren’t even, as a whole, less bigoted than literally anyone else, they’re just not bigoted against their own specific sub-group.

people are shitty, including people within your own community. deal with it. you don’t get to revoke their LGBT cards to wash yourself of their bullshit.

Anyone can be an asshole, regardless of race gender or sexuality

Popuko speaking the truth right there.

When Tumblr bans porn, who loses?

smitethepatriarchy:

tranarchist:

A former staff engineer, who recently left Tumblr and asked to remain
anonymous for professional reasons, tells Vox that the NSFW ban was “in
the works for about six months as an official project,” adding that it
was given additional resources and named “Project X” in September,
shortly before it was announced to the rest of the company at an
all-hands meeting. “[The NSFW ban] was going to happen anyway,” the
former engineer told me. “Verizon pushed it out the door after the child
pornography thing and made the deadline sooner,” but the real problem
was always that Verizon couldn’t sell ads next to porn.

Porn on Tumblr is something Verizon needs to wipe out if it’s going to
make any money off what it thinks is actually valuable about the
platform — enormous fandom and social justice communities that, just
before the Verizon acquisition, Khalaf was insisting the staff figure
out how to better monetize.

On that note-

Two former Tumblr employees said they were alarmed when Khalaf chose
Black Lives Matter as an example of a community that the company should
focus on converting into Yahoo media consumers. One told The Verge,
“Simon explicitly said that Black Lives Matter was an opportunity to
[make] a ton of money.”

Capitalism is disgusting and ruins everything.

Hi everybody.

Quick update on the status of WarriorMale.

Right now I’m attempting to back up this enormous blog.

I would hate to see it deleted after 4 years and 60,000 posts.

I feel like I’m on the Titanic and we just hit the iceberg. Instead of going down with the ship I’m trying to save WarriorMale.

I’ll let all of you know if he made it into the lifeboat!

This website was literally so fucking stupid. You used to be able to just fucking edit somebody’s post. Like just change it entirely. Nothing was stopping you. What the fuck. Imagine logging into your youtub account and some bozo changed your funny comment to say you love being a dummy. That’s what used to happen here. Every single day.

It was the fucking best

If You Actually Want To Do Something About This:

thespectacularspider-girl:

If you’re wanting to show your displeasure, don’t just tag staff or support.  Take a page out of other consumer revolts and make sure your displeasure is known.

Don’t be an idiot.  Do not threaten, harass or otherwise make this personal.  Contact these companies, make your displeasure known, alert them that you are a customer and you will be leaving their brand across all boards unless they reverse their decision.

Be clear, be concise, be polite, but make your displeasure known.

More than 5,500 women came to Illinois to have an abortion last year amid growing restrictions in the Midwest

rapeculturerealities:

More women are crossing state lines to have abortions in Illinois, according to the latest statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health, which were released earlier this week.

Last year, 5,528 women traveled to Illinois from other states to terminate pregnancies, almost a thousand more than the 4,543 women who came from out of state in 2016. The total number of abortions statewide during the same period increased slightly, from 38,382 in 2016 to 39,329 in 2017, according to annual state reports. Of those, about 1,000 abortions each year were provided to women whose home states were marked “unknown.”

While the data doesn’t indicate the reason for out-of-state travel, Illinois is generally considered a reproductive rights haven amid the more restrictive Midwest, where women often face waiting periods, gestational limits, fewer clinics and other hurdles.

To Mary Kate Knorr, executive director of Illinois Right to Life, this status is a badge of dishonor.

“The increase in abortions performed on out-of-state women is indicative of how truly regressive we are when it comes to protecting pre-born children in our state,” she said. “Illinois is an outlier amongst our neighbors, whose legislatures have consulted science and found that discouraging abortions is in the best interest of their residents.”

But Terry Cosgrove, president and CEO of the abortion rights advocacy group Personal PAC, praised Illinois as one of the few states in the middle of the country where women have access to this safe and legal medical procedure.
